Erica Fraga

i think expanding the canal could be a good or bad thing depending on what the government does with it. if they are trading more goods and services through the canal and creating more revenue for the country, then i think it would be a great thing to expand the canal. but if it is going to be for more cruise ships to be able to sail through, then i think that it is a waste even though the people that spend their money on cruise lines are "stimulating the economy".

Link to article for class tomorrow

After lecture tomorrow we will be reading this article and hopefully discussing the pros and cons of the Panama Canal expansion a little bit before class is over.

feel free to read it ahead of time if you are interested...

Class on friday nov. 20th

hello class..

we will be talking about the Panama Canal and its history involving the United States on Friday. You do not have an assignment due but I wanted to post the following question:

"The Canal is currently undergoing an expansion worth millions of dollars. Do you think this is a smart thing to do given the current state of the economy?"

please feel free to comment and input your ideas on this question.

In class we will briefly cover the history and then will discuss the expansion a little bit.

see you in class!

Introduction to blogging :)

Welcome to the American History blog! I have sent an invitation to your email accounts and as soon as you accept you will have full access to the blog, including posting your work and commenting on your peers work. Once the unit has passed I will download the documents onto my computer for grading and we will move on to the next assignment. The blog will also have special and important announcements posted, such as homework, test dates, and assignment due dates.

This is meant to make learning easier and more interactive. You are free to comment in as many posts as possible. In addition to posting your assignment, you are each required to comment on at least two posts from your peers every time there is an assignment.

You will also be required from time to time to comment on class discussions or answer questions that I will post. Of this specific dates you will also be informed in class, as well as in the blog.

I hope you are all excited to work on this and make it both a classroom and a home reading and writing experience.
